Upcycled Skirt

I absolutely love the idea of upcycling things... I am still in the learning stages of sewing so it is great for me to be able to practice with old sheets and pillowcases instead of spending money on fabric that I could quite possibly destroy.

My step daughter has been smitten with the pillow-case dresses I've been making, so I decided to give a layered skirt a go :)

The bottom blue layer is an old pillowcase cut in half, I keep the hemmed edge to make the bottom of the skirt look nice. That is the great thing about upcycling things- you can get a really nice finish using what is already there!
Then I've cut a second layer a few inches shorter than the first out of a sheer curtain that I had cut up.
Pop some elastic in that baby and sew it up- you have yourself a layered skirt :)

I'm like a hoarder when I go to a thrift store, there are such cute fabrics you can find on vintage pillowcases
Hope she likes it!
